Since 2018, all gambling platforms that were licensed in the UK need to collaborate with GamStop. As its name suggests, this project enables people to stop if they start developing a gambling addiction. It is a free project that is available only to the residents of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

At the moment of this text being written, around 150 gambling platforms were collaborating with GamStop. You can find their full list on the official website of the organization. But if you’re not looking for an online casinos NOT on GamStop, check out Casino-Wise.com.

How Can a Gambler Join GamStop

Anyone who needs to take a break from casinos can join this project. This is what you need to do to self-exclude.

  1. Visit the official GamStop site.
  1. Register, indicating your name, phone number, email and postal address. Insert not only your current numbers and addresses but also the ones that you used for gambling before.
  1. Indicate the desired duration of self-exclusion: 6 months, 12 months or 5 years. Apart from these three, GamStop offers no other options.
  1. Submit your application.

Within 24 hours, you will be banned from all national online casinos. If your contact data changes, you need to update it on the corresponding page of the GamStop site.

What Happens Once Your Self-Exclusion Period Is Over

If you realize that you require more time, you can prolong your self-exclusion via your GamStop online account or by contacting the support team of the organization. You can add extra 6 months, 12 months or 5 years to your ban.

To deactivate self-exclusion, you should call the GamStop support team. You can do it only after 6 months, 12 months or 5 years are over. If you try to do it earlier, the representatives of the organization will not respond to your requests.

If you fail to call GamStop once your self-exclusion time is over, it will be automatically prolonged for extra 7 years. This can happen only once, there will be no second auto-prolongation. Once these 7 years are over, GamStop will lift your ban and will inform all the national gambling operators that you resorted to self-exclusion.

What Other Services Are Available on the GamStop Site

On the site of the organization, there is a More Support page that consists of four sections:

  • Practical Controls
  • Gambling Support
  • Emotional Support
  • Debt Support

Practical Controls suggest that you should install ad blockers and other blocking software. This will prevent you from seeing casino advertising. You should unsubscribe from all casino marketing messages that you receive to your phone or email. And of course, you must delete gambling apps from all your stationary computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones.

Some banks today support casino self-exclusion. If you used your bank card or account to top up your gambling deposit, get in touch with its contact centre. Once they notice that you try to transfer funds to a casino, they will block the transaction.

In the Gambling Support, Emotional Support and Debt Support sections, you will find the contacts of the organizations that will help you to solve diverse problems related to gambling addiction.
